Invisible Braces in Kent

At Smil, we are proud providers of Invisalign treatment in Kent. An advanced clear aligner system, Invisalign has become a popular choice globally for discreet teeth straightening.

What is Invisalign treatment?
Invisalign® is an advanced treatment that uses a clear aligner technology to transform your smile. The series of customised invisible braces are comfortable and tailored to your individual smile. Gradually straightening your teeth over a period of time, Invisalign is a convenient solution that does not involve the use of any metal wires or brackets.

Benefits of Invisalign braces
There are many benefits to choosing Invisalign braces to straighten your teeth, such as:
Discreet – nobody will even know you are wearing them
Removable – you can remove Invisalign braces for up to 2 hours a day, for meals or special occasions
No food restrictions – we recommend sticking to a healthy diet but there are no limitations
Easy to clean – just take some warm soap and lukewarm water to wash away any debris
Fast and effective – results achieved in as little as six months
Confidence – Invisalign will provide you with a smile you’re proud to show off.

Invisalign or Braces?
Although Invisalign offers the same results as braces, they also provide more comfort. Both Invisalign and braces can fix small gaps between the teeth and bite issues. However, with Invisalign, you have the choice of taking them off for special occasions and to eat. There are also no food limitations like there would be with braces and you do not run the risk of any food getting stuck between the metal wires.

If you’d like to learn more about how we can transform your smile with Invisalign braces, please get in touch with our friendly team today. Call us on 01634 756 536 now.

Invisalign is best for…

invisalign before after

Crowded teeth

When you do not have enough room for your teeth to fit normally, you can experience a build-up of plaque, tartar or other harmful bacteria.

invisalign before after

Gaps between teeth

Extra space between two or more of your teeth can cause food to get stuck between them, making them tender and sore.

invisalign before after

Open bite

If your upper and lower teeth don't touch when you close your mouth, it can be difficult to chew or bite.

invisalign before after

Underbite

If your lower front teeth are in front of your upper teeth when you close your mouth, it can be hard to chew properly and speak clearly, causing your teeth to wear down.

invisalign before after

Overbite

When your overbite is too large, our dentists in Kent might tell you you have a deep bite. This can cause your teeth to wear down or pain in your jaw.

invisalign before after

Crossbite

A crossbite can make your teeth wear down or chip. It can also make your gums start to recede or make little notches above your gum line.

FAQ’s

1. How does Invisalign treatment work?

Invisalign braces are custom-made entirely to your smile.

The first step in the Invisalign treatment process is visiting our practice in Kent for a consultation. After discussing your smile ambitions, our team will create a 3D image of your dream smile using state-of-the-art technology. Once you have agreed to the final image, your invisible braces are then created to gradually shift your teeth over time. Each clear aligner needs to be worn for 1-2 weeks before moving on to the next. You will be welcomed back to our Chatham practice every 4-6 weeks during your Invisalign treatment to monitor your progress.

2. What are Invisalign braces made of?

Invisalign braces are made of flexible plastic — specifically, a patented thermoplastic material called SmartTrack created exclusively for Invisalign treatment.

3. How does Invisalign treatment straighten my teeth?

Your invisible braces are custom-made to apply the right amount of force to gently straighten your teeth over time.

4. Am I guaranteed to have straight teeth with Invisalign treatment?

Every smile is unique, which is why your Invisalign treatment starts with a consultation. During your consultation, your dentist will help you determine what Invisalign treatment could do for your smile.

5. Am I suitable for Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign is not suitable for those who have large gaps of missing teeth or those who still have baby teeth present. The clear aligners will not be able to close those gaps. When you visit our practice in Chatham to learn more about Invisalign, our friendly dentists will discuss with you whether Invisalign is suitable for you. If you have any signs of gum disease, this will need to be addressed before treatment can begin. Invisalign treatment can be a great solution for both adults and teens looking for a virtually invisible method to improve their smile.

6. What can’t Invisalign fix?

If you have a crooked tooth that needs to be rotated drastically, Invisalign may not be capable of moving it into the correct position. Invisalign also may not be able to correct a severe overbite. A member of our experienced team will discuss with you whether
Invisalign can fix your dental issue during your consultation. In the case that Invisalign isn’t suitable, we will recommend the best treatment plan for your oral health.

7. How long will Invisalign treatment take?

The length of Invisalign treatment depends on multiple factors, like how complex your case is and how often you wear your aligners. On average, Invisalign treatment time is 12 to 18 months, though you can start seeing results in a matter of weeks.

8. What are attachments and why would I need them for my Invisalign treatment?

Your Invisalign treatment may require SmartForce attachments, small tooth-coloured shapes that are attached to your teeth. These shapes serve as handles, giving the aligners something to gently push on in order to move your teeth with the right amount of force. Attachments are what make complex tooth movements possible without braces. Invisalign clear aligners fit smoothly and tightly around them, so they’re barely noticeable. Not everyone who uses Invisalign clear aligners will need SmartForce attachments. If you need them, your Invisalign Doctor will attach them to your teeth at the start of or during your treatment and remove them when they are no longer needed.

9. How much does Invisalign treatment cost and what are the payment options?

The price of your Invisalign treatment depends on the complexity of your dental correction and your course of treatment.

Invisalign braces typically cost the same as traditional braces. At Smil, we offer a number of payment plans to help you spread the cost of your Invisalign treatment.

10. Can I take my invisible braces off?

Yes, you can remove your Invisalign braces for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing. You can take them off for special occasions, like a wedding, a job interview, or for playing your favourite sport or instrument. Just remember to wear them 20 to 22 hours a day to get the best results.

11. Is Invisalign treatment painful?

Invisalign treatment moves your teeth by applying gentle, constant force, but some people do feel temporary discomfort for the first few days of wearing a new set of aligners. This is normal and a sign your invisible braces are working and transforming your smile. If you have any concerns or experience continued discomfort, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Will smoking stain my aligners? We discourage smoking while wearing Invisalign braces because it can stain them.

I went on a trip and forgot to take my aligners with me. Will my aligners still fit? If it’s only been a short time, your aligners should still fit but they might feel uncomfortable. If it’s been a long time, talk to your Invisalign Doctor about your unique situation.

12. How do I take care of my Invisalign braces?

The best way to clean your aligners is by brushing and rinsing them in lukewarm water and using the Invisalign Cleaning Crystals or special cleaning tablets. It’s important that you brush your teeth after each meal before re-inserting your aligners to maintain good oral hygiene.

If you lose or break your Invisalign braces, immediately let us know. Your Invisalign dentist will work with you to ensure you stay on track with your treatment plan, which may involve wearing a previous set of aligners, your next set of aligners, or ordering a replacement.

13. What happens after Invisalign treatment?

Most Invisalign dentists recommend that anyone who has completed orthodontic treatment, whether with braces or Invisalign treatment, use a retainer to prevent teeth from gradually shifting back toward their initial position. While there are many different types of retainers, we recommend Vivera retainers. Vivera retainers were specifically designed for use after Invisalign treatment, helping you to keep your new smile. Your Vivera retainers will be virtually invisible and custom-made from an impression or scan of your teeth.

On top of wearing your retainers, you should also continue to keep up with a good at-home dental routine. This means brushing your teeth twice a day using fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled brush. We would also recommend flossing and regular visits to our practice in Chatham to make sure your Invisalign smile stays healthy. If you are unsure about how best to take care of your new and improved smile, please get in touch with our Invisalign dentists today. We will be more than happy to answer any questions you have and guide you through the aftercare process.

14. Do my wisdom teeth need to be removed before Invisalign treatment?

This will vary from patient to patient. One of our Invisalign dentists in Kent may recommend your wisdom teeth be removed before treatment if they are impacted and putting your oral health at risk.

15. What do I need to bring to my first appointment?

When visiting our Invisalign practice in Kent, you should bring with you any oral health and medical history we may need to be aware of. Please also make note of any questions you’d like to ask our friendly dentists.
